Education & Industry Engagement

We aim to grow San Diego into a world-class robotics hub. In addition to our research efforts, we are developing cross-disciplinary education programs, focusing on industry partnerships and strengthening our entrepreneurship programs.

The Contextual Robotics Institute aims to create a learning and networking environment that develops robotics talent, that serves as a meeting place for the San Diego / Cali Baja region's growing robotics technology hub, and that draws robotics employers and talent to the region.

Education activities include courses leading to robotics minors or concentrations in multiple engineering majors and developing a master's program in contextual robotics for practicing engineers. In addition, the Institute will promote co-curricular training through technical skills workshops and seminar series.

Industry engagement activities include collaborative research, industry-sponsored design projects, mentoring programs and summer internships.
